Abstract:

To provide polymer grafted fine particles that are electrophoretic particles for an electrophoretic dispersion liquid excellent in dispersion stability and excellent in electrophoretic property even at a low voltage, and to provide a method for manufacturing the particles, an electrophoretic dispersion liquid for a recording medium using the particles, and an image display device using the electrophoretic dispersion liquid as a display medium.

The polymer grafted fine particles for electrophoresis to be dispersed in an electrophoretic dispersion liquid comprise pigment fine particles to which a polymer is grafted by 16 to 100 mass% of the pigment. The method for manufacturing the particles includes heating pigment fine particles and the polymer to react. The electrophoretic dispersion liquid for a recording medium uses the above particles. The image display device uses the electrophoretic dispersion liquid as a display medium.
