To provide a polymer material for laser beam machining which does not generate a nasty ordor and is inflammable and has no stickness on the surface to be machined and is excellent in laser beam machining characteristic while laser beam machining and also to provide a flexographic printing plate and a seal material both of which use the polymer material and have a sufficient sculpturing depth.
This polymer material for laser beam machining comprises a crosslinked polymer composition which contains (A) a polymer which includes an ethylene unit of ≥45 mass % as a repeating unit and (B) an organic peroxide, and this polymer material for laser beam machining comprises a foamed and crosslinked polymer material which contains (A), (B), and in addition (C) a foaming agent. As a polymer (A), a copolymer rubber or the like that is prepared by copolymerization of α-olefins such as an ethylene, a propylene, a 1-butene and non-conjugated polyenes such as a 5-ethylidyne-2-norbornene can be employed. As an organic peroxide (B), t-butylcumyl-peroxide or a dicumyl peroxide or the like is preferably employed.
