Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a polymer system which can be used as a polymer binder component for a printing ink by neutralizing a polymer (mixture) obtd. by the reaction of an epoxide, etc., with an amine and a phenol and transferring the polymer (mixture) into water.

CONSTITUTION: A polymer (mixture) obtd. by the reaction of at least one compd. from each of the groups : (a) epoxides, carbonates, and epoxide-carbonates, (b) amines, and (C) phenols is neutralized and then transferred to give the objective polymer system which comprises an amino-group-contg. polymer (mixture) having a glass transition temp. of 40°C or higher, a wt. average mol. wt. of 2,000-75,000, and an amine value of 50-300. The systen may further contain a water-insoluble polymer prepd. by polymerizing an ethylenically unsatd. monomer in the presence of the polymer (mixture).
