To a dispersing resin capable of forming a stable composition of an inorganic pigment such as a magnetic pigment by reacting (A) a polymer having an OH group at either end with (B) a polyfunctional non-aromatic isocyanate, reacting the product with (C) a compound having a group reactive with NCO, and further reacting the obtained product with (D) a compound for introducing an acidic group.
A monomer (A) formed from 80-20 mol.% 1-25C alkyl ester of an α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid, 0-20 mol.% at least one monomer, an initiator (e.g. t-butyl hydroperoxide) and a regulator is reacted with B (e.g. 1,6-diisocyanatohexane), the reaction product containing 1.2-3.9 mol of NCO groups per mol of the OH groups of A is reacted with C (e.g. polyfunctional amine) to obtain a reaction product having 2-7 mol of reactive groups per mol of the remaining free NCO groups. This product is finally reacted with D (e.g. citric acid).
