Abstract:

To provide a resinous substance to be used in a tire tread to improve drag properties without reducing durability and tread abrasion resistance.

A resinous substance comprises (1) 5-70 wt.% units derived from limonene, (2) 5-70 wt.% units derived from dicyclopentadiene, (3) 5-45 wt.% units derived from indene, and (4) 5-45 wt.% units derived from α- methylstyrene, the sum of the units by wt.% derived from limonene and dicyclopentadiene being 40-75 wt.% based on the resin units and the sum of the units by wt.% derived from indene and α-methylstyrene being 25-60 wt.% based on the resin units.
