To provide a polymer which can give an electrolyte having high ionic conductivity and a high cation transport number, to provide an electrolyte having high ionic conductivity and a high cation transport number, and to provide an electrochemical device excellent in electrical properties.
As the electrolyte a polymer having an organic boron halide/nitrogen-containing heterocyclic ring (e.g., imidazole) compound structure and represented by formula (1) is used. The boron halide/imidazole compound structure has an effect of enhancing the mobility of polymer segments and an effect of enhancing the dissociability of an ionic compound used as the electrolyte containing the polymer and can improve the ionic conductivity of the polymer. When the polymer further has a boric acid ester structure, the electrolyte can exhibit more improved cation transport number.
