Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a polyolefin composition that is excellent in thermal aging resistance and does not undergo blooming by adding a combination of a specified aromatic compound with an antioxidant and a zinc compound to a polyolefin.
CONSTITUTION: This composition is prepared by mixing a polyolefin (A) (e.g. polyethylene) with a compound (B) represented by formula I or II, an antioxidant (C) (e.g. 4,4'-dioctyldiphenylamine) and a zinc compound (D) (e.g. zinc oxide). The mixing ratio is suitably such that 100 pts.wt. component A is mixed with 0.05-10 pts.wt. component B, 0.05-20 pts.wt. component C, and 1-50 pts.wt. component D. An insulated wire having excellent heat resistance can be produced by coating a conductor with the obtained polyolefin composition and crosslinking the film to a gel fraction of 40% or above by irradiation with, e.g. electron beams.
