PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a novel subject polypeptide which has a specific amino acid sequence and an activity of inducing the production of interferon γ in the immunocompetent cells, and is useful in the treatment and prevention for viral diseases, malignant tumors and immnological diseases.
SOLUTION: This polypeptide has an amino acid sequence of the formula (the amino acid indicated with Xaa means isoleucine or threonine) and has activity of inducing the production of inteferon-γ (IFN-γ) in the immunocompetent cells. Thus, this peptide is useful as an IFN-γ inducer for producing IFN-γ by the cell culture process or as a treatment and prevention agent for viral disettses, malignant tumors, immunological diseases having sensitivity to TFN-γ. This polypeptide is obtained by isolating a protein inducing the production of IFN-γ from mouse hepatic cells to which dead cell bodies of Corynebacterium are given and RT-PCR of mRNA of mouse hepatocyte is performed using the DNA coding the parrtial sequence of the protein as a primer.
