PURPOSE: Polyphosphazene moldings, having excellent surface properties without impairing original characteristics and obtainable by treating polyphosphazene moldings with a specific compound in order to substitute side chains of polyphosphazene in the surface layer part thereof.
CONSTITUTION: (A) Polyphosphazene moldings having 50,000 or more (especially 100,000 or more) weight-average molecular weight, e.g., film or linear or fiberous product, consisting of repeating units of formula I (R1 and R2 are aliphatic group or aromatic group) are treated with (B) a compound of formula II [R3 is aliphatic or aromatic group different from that of R1 or R2; M is alkali (earth) metal] in a medium without substantially changing the form of said moldings, e.g. heat-treated in the treating liquid containing the compound (B) dissolved in an organic liquid without dissolving the moldings (A) or the surfaces of the moldings (A) are coated with a paste containing the compound (B) and heat-treated to partially or wholly substitute said chains at least the surface layer part of the moldings (A).
