PURPOSE: To greatly improve the impact resistance of a polypropylene resin without detriment to its inherent high bending modulus, by adding a specified ethylene/α-olefin copolymer composition to the polypropylene resin.
CONSTITUTION: An α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid anhydride copolymer (e.g., ethylene/maleic anhydride copolymer) is added to an ethylene/α-olefin copolymer (e.g., ethylene/propylene copolymer), and the resulting mixture is heated in the presence of an organic radical generator. 15W35pts.wt. obtained ethylene/α- olefin copolymer composition is mixed with 85W65pts.wt. polypropylene resin to obtain the purpose polypropylene resin composition. This polypropylene resin composition can be suitably used as a material for automobile bumpers, motorcycle fenders, helmets, etc.
