Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject resin hardly causing occurrence of ink blot even when attached amount of ink per unit area is increased in printing by reacting a modified polyvinyl alcohol with a specific aldehyde to carrying out acetalation.
SOLUTION: This acetal resin is obtained by using an aromatic aldehyde and acetaldehyde as aldehydes when a modified polyvinyl alcohol having at least one hydrophilic group selected from a group comprising COOM, SO3M, OSO3M, PO(OM)2, the formula (R is H or an alkyl; M is H, Li, Na or K), a tertiary amine, a quaternary ammonium salt and a betaine is reacted with the aldehydes to carry out actalation. Furthermore, in the acetal resin, acetalation degree acetalized with the aromatic aldehyde is preferably 3-10mol% and acetalation degree acetalized with acetaldehyde is preferably 10-30wt.%.
