Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pore diameter measuring method for measuring a relatively large pore diameter without use of mercury.
SOLUTION: A sample cell 11 for receiving a solid material as a specimen is set to a pre-processor 1. After a hydrophobic process (a surface process) is applied to the surface of the solid material by using a syringe pump 14 and introducing a silane coupling agent as a surface processing agent into the sample cell 11, the sample cell for receiving the solid material processed by the hydrophobic process is set to the pore diameter measuring apparatus. Liquid introducing pressure when a particular liquid is introduced into a pore with a particular pore diameter, or liquid deriving pressure when the particular liquid is derived from the pore with the particular pore diameter, is found by measuring the quantity of the particular liquid introduced into or derived from the pore of the solid material as pressure to the particular liquid introduced into the sample cell is increased or decreased. The pore diameter is calculated from the liquid introducing pressure or the liquid deriving pressure in accordance with an expression of Washburn.
