To provide a porous body having excellent photocatalytic activity and a manufacturing method thereof, to provide the porous body having a large specific surface area and easily passing a gas or fluid and the manufacturing method thereof and to provide the manufacturing method of the porous body by which the porosity control of the porous body is easily carried out.
The porous body comprises only titanium dioxide which is formed in three dimensional network and in which pores existing inside the network has a continuous pore structure, or consists essentially of titanium dioxide and comprises carbon-doped titanium dioxide containing 3-7 wt.% carbon in titanium dioxide. The manufacturing method of the porous body includes a step for film-forming titanium dioxide or the carbon-doped titanium dioxide on the whole surface of a foamed metallic body 12 having 50-98% porosity and a step for eliminating the foamed metallic body from the film-formed material by dipping the film-formed material in an acid etchant in which the foamed metallic body 12 is dissolved.
