PURPOSE: To manufacture a porous compound structure superior in mechanical strength and utilized for building material by a method wherein a three-dimensional linear matter with a plastic polymer powder adhered dispersedly on a discontinuous untwisted fiber is heated up to a fusing point of a thermoplastic polymer or above and then coolded down.
CONSTITUTION: After cutting and opening a discontinuous fiber bundle, a thermoplastic polymer powder is adhered thereto, or a cut fiber bundle is stirred and mixed, as opened, with the thermoplastic polymer powder, thereby obtaining a three-dimensional linear matter with the thermoplastic polymer powder adhered dispersedly thereon. Then, a porous compound structure is manufactured by heating it up to a fusing (softening) point of the thermoplastic polymer or over and then cooling it down in a nonpressurized or pressurized atmosphere. A glass fiber 3mm long or more is preferable for the discontinuous untwisted fiber, and a polyolefin resin or the like which is 1mm or below in particle size is used for the thermoplastic polymer. The thermoplastic polymer in 20pts.wt. or more is used to 100pts.wt. of said fiber.
