Abstract:
To provide porous ferromagnetic or ferrimagnetic glass particles exhibiting high binding capacities for a molecules of interest, especially biomolecules, and, most preferably, nucleic acid molecules.
The porous ferromagnetic or ferrimagnetic glass particles includes silica glass precipitated or adsorbed on iron oxide or a pigment, wherein: pores of silica glass particles includes the pores greater or smaller than 10 nm in diameter; and a cumulative pore area of the particles for pores greater than 10 nm in diameter is greater than 4 m2/g.
