Title:
POROUS METALLIC SINTERED COMPACT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3946055
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous metallic sintered compact for reinforcing a member made of a light alloy, and to provide a production method thereof.
SOLUTION: Metal powder having a grain size distribution; wherein, it passes through a sieve of 60 meshes, and does not pass through a sieve of 350 meshes is mixed with graphite powder, or fine grain powder for improving machinability as well to form into a powdery mixture. Next, the powdery mixture is charged to a die, and is subjected to compacting to form into a green compact. The green compact is thereafter sintered to form into a porous metallic sintered compact having a porosity of 35 to 50%, containing 40 to 65 mass% Cr, and having a thermal expansion coefficient of ≤14×10-6/K after the infiltration of a light alloy. The porous metallic sintered compact is cast into a member made of a light alloy, so that the member made of the light alloy having a high strength and a high joining strength, and having a thermal expansion coefficient close to that of an iron base material can be obtained.
