A portable apparatus comprises: an imaging unit 12 having an imaging device and an imaging lens; control means 11 performing signal processing on receiving image signals output from the imaging unit; a display unit 13 for displaying an image based on the image signals output from the imaging unit or image data recorded in a recording unit 16; and a touch panel unit 14 installed on a display screen of a display unit. On the basis of the image signals, in an image area displayed by the display unit, the control means sets an image area in which an image is displayed in a deformed manner by changing both scale ratios in horizontal and a vertical directions of the display screen of the display unit, and an image area in which the image is displayed without changing scale ratios in the horizontal and vertical directions of the display screen of the display unit.
