To provide a portable audio unit that contains an externally mounted speaker for its own use.

The portable audio unit consists of an enclosure section having a split groove section 8A that is shaped to be a notch from the outside of one side face section 7 toward the inside and having a ball joint fitting section 9 placed in the split groove, section 8A of a support shaft 16 whose one end has a ball joint 15 and whose other joint has an acoustic driver 14, and of a speaker having the acoustic driver 14 and a blat diaphragm 13 fitted to the acoustic driver. By fitting the ball joint to the ball joint fitting section, the speaker is allowed to freely move between an upper face 2 and a lower face 3 of the enclosure section and the portable audio unit can contain this speaker in the lower side.
