To provide a portable device allowing a user to select a desired icon from plural icons on a display screen and to execute the same by moving the device main body.
The portable device first detects an input instructing to shift into an operation mode in order to receive the input made by a user through an operation to move the device main body. Subsequently, the portable device detects a movement of the device main body which is an input made by the user and calculates the movement direction and the movement amount of the device from a reference position using a position of the device at a point of detection of the input instructing to shift into the operation mode. The instruction associated with the icon positioned at a predetermined area is executed by moving the plural icons on the display screen based on the movement direction and the movement amount.
