To prevent damage to a portable dinner table frame, especially one made of wood, and maintain its utility value as a quality article by providing mounting bars and/or leg frames with protective covers to prevent them from being damaged when such table frames are piled up one upon another.
A portable dinner table frame 2 is made of wood or other material and consists of a pair of mounting bars 4, 4 and a pair of leg frames 6, 6 which support a detachable tray upon them. The leg frame 6 is formed by integrally combining a right-left pair of legs 8, 8 and a top-bottom pair of connecting bars 10, 10. A protective cover 22 is formed on the side of each leg 8. The protective cover 22 is made of a durable, abrasion resistant material such as a synthetic resin, hardened wood, or metal. The distance A between the two outer sides of the leg frame 6 is made slightly smaller than the distance B between the inner sides of the mounting bars 4, 4 which face each other. As a result, when a table frame 2 is laid upon another slightly shifted to one side on the plane formed by the mounting bars, the protective covers 22 of the leg frames 6 of the upper table frame 2 get clear of the protective covers 22 of the leg frames 6 of the lower table frame 2, thereby preventing damage to the surface and other parts of the leg frames 6.
