To provide a portable gas burning device automatically extinguishable when a predetermined time has passed after the start of burning while the mechanism remains relatively simple.

The portable gas burning device equipped with an automatic extinguishing device is composed of: a burning starting means installed in a gas passage between a gas supplying source and a burning part, supplying the burning gas and shutting off, and putting the gas in the burning condition when it is supplied to a burner part; a thermoelectromotive force generating means installed near the burner part and generating the thermoelectromotive force with the heat of gas burning; a solenoid valve to keep the gas passage in the released condition upon receiving the thermoelectromotive force from the thermoelectromotive force generating means after the start of burning; a timer to set the maximum burning time; and a solenoid valve controlling means to shut off the supply of the thermoelectromotive force to the solenoid valve immediately after the elapse of the set time on the timer and transfer the solenoid valve to the closed condition. It is preferable that further an at- tumbling gas shutoff means is provided to shut the gas passage in the event of tumbling.
