PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal that, after occurrence of a disaster, can quickly present, to a user, information on a nearest recommended evacuation place, an evacuation route to the nearest recommended evacuation place, and an emergency flash report, and a method for controlling the portable terminal, and a program.SOLUTION: When emergency flash report receiving means 1041 receives an emergency flash report, operation mode switching means 1043 switches an operation mode of a portable terminal 100 to an evacuation mode. Map display means 1042 displays, when the operation mode of the portable terminal 100 is switched to the evacuation mode, a nearest recommended evacuation place and an evacuation route by using map data acquired from a memory 105. Notification means 1052 displays notification information to be notified to a user related to the emergency flash report overlapping with a map corresponding to the map data.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
