To provide a portable terminal in which unnecessary operations are saved and convenience in use is excellent, the portable terminal having a display unit exposed at all times.

The present invention relates to a portable terminal in which a first casing 12 including a display unit 4 and a second casing 13 including operating keys 5c as an operating unit are configured to be opened/closed and the display unit 4 can be exposed in a closed state. The portable terminal comprises a memory unit 6 for storing various data regarding mail, address book, schedule or notebook, an opening/closing detection unit 7 for detecting opening of both the casings, and a control unit 3 for controlling a display screen of the display unit 4. The control unit 3 can display an input picture based on stored and displayed data when opening of both the casings is detected by the opening/closing detection unit 7 while stored data are displayed on the display unit 4 in the closed state.
