A method that determines a control error with respect to an instruction amount 4, that has been sought as a controllable variable, for the position of the operation valve 32, seeks an actuating variable 5 from the control error, and positions the operation valve 32 at a position predetermined by the instruction amount 4, using the actuating variable 5 so as to continuously adjust the position of the operation valve, a controlled variable corresponding to the position of the operation valve 32 is sought, by monitoring the actuating variable 5 and an another quantity 6 susceptible to the position of the operation valve 32.
