Abstract:
PURPOSE:To detect position at high resolution and high reliability and to simplify the manufacturing process by forming many recording spots on a recording disk at equal intervals, grouping a plurality of continuous recording spots into one group, and recording specified address data of a plurality of bits in the recording spots in the group. CONSTITUTION:Many recording spots 2 are formed on a pitch circle which is concentric with the rotary axis center of a recording disk 1 in one line at a minute pitch. The data of a plurality of bits are stored in each recording spot 2. The four recording spots 2 are grouped into one group. A series of addresses are imparted to one group. The data comprising several tens - several hundreds of bits can be recorded in the single recording spot 2. All the recording spots 2 on the disk 1 can be grouped into one group as required, and a series of the address data can be imparted to each recording spot. When the series of the addresses are imparted to all the recording spots, the absolute position can be detected by reading the data in the arbitrary recording spot 2 on the disk 1.
