Abstract:
PURPOSE:To accurately detect the direction and quantity of the movement of a moving body by using such a position detection sensor that comb-tooth parts of one comb-tooth electrode are positioned deviating from center positions between adjacent comb-tooth parts of the other comb-tooth electrode. CONSTITUTION:The moving body 1 moves in a direction (a) and light emitted by a light irradiating means 5 is reflected by a reflecting plate 5c fixed on the reverse surface of the moving body 1 to illuminate comb-tooth parts 24a of a comb-tooth electrode 24; and the electric resistance of a photoconductive layer 23 at the part decreases and a current flows between a common electrode 22 and the comb-tooth part 24a. When the moving body 1 moves right, the light illuminates an adjacent comb-tooth part 25a and a current flows between the common electrode 22 an comb-tooth part 25a. This is repeated to obtain output pulses PA and PB from differential amplifiers 3 and 4. Those are inputted to a position detecting circuit consisting of a phase comparator and an up/down counter.
