Abstract:
To accurately detect a position indicated by an indicator without the need to calculate the distance from a projector to the indicator.SOLUTION: A position detection method includes: on the basis of first image information generated by a first imaging apparatus picking up an image of a projection surface on which a pattern image representing a predetermined pattern is projected in a first state in which an indicator indicates the projection surface, and first pattern image information based on the pattern image, specifying, in a first image represented by the first image information, a first area in which the indicator is projected; on the basis of second image information generated by a second imaging apparatus picking up an image of the projection surface in the first state, and the first image information, specifying, in an imaging difference image representing the difference between the first image and a second image represented by the second image information, a second area the luminance value of which is equal to or less than a first threshold; and on the basis of the first area and the second area, detecting a position indicated by the indicator on the projection surface.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
