To provide a position determination method which allows for detecting the position of any point on a target.SOLUTION: A position determination method provided herein comprises extracting a boundary between point clouds with different brightness according to a brightness pattern of reflected light when an object is irradiated with light from a light source of a light detection and ranging device, allocating a line segment or curve to the boundary, and determining the target position based on the line segment or curve.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
