To provide a position estimation method, device and program for efficiently specifying a position from image data even in different weathers or different seasons.
A position estimation device is provided with: an object recognition part 3 which identifies an object by combining one or two or more of a normalized color, edge density, the maximum value of voting in a hough space, the degree of the distribution of an edge direction, and the degree of the dispersion of luminance as the image featured value of a valid object for specifying the position; and a position identification part 5 for position estimation for specifying the position by using the result of object identification, and configured to identify the position. Furthermore, this position estimation device is configured to estimate a position which turns to be a correct answer by calculating the existence probability of the position by using a Markov process and Bayes theorem as the probability distribution of a movement history by a regional position estimation part. Thus, it is possible to efficiently achieve position estimation.
