Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antibacterial/antifungal pottery product such as tile or sanitary ware, the surface of each of which has antibacterial/antifungal activity, by using a glaze containing an antibacterial metal.
SOLUTION: This antibacterial/antifungal pottery product is produced by applying a glaze containing an antibacterial metal to the surface of a pottery product in such a way that the glaze is fixed to the surface of this pottery product preferably at a 900-1,300°C treatment temperature, wherein as the glaze, a glaze containing an antibacterial metal and phosphoric acid can optionally be used; the glaze containing an antibacterial metal is obtained by mixing an antibacterial/antifungal agent which is not eroded or corroded by molten glass, into a glaze containing no antibacterial/antifungal agent; and as the antibacterial metal to be used, at least one metal selected from silver, copper and zinc is preferred.
