Title:
POWDER MOLDING METHOD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS62188701
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce Ni-Ti alloy powder having excellent rolling and forging characteristics by mechanically regrinding the alloy powder or further pickling the powder to form the power having irregular shapes in the stage of using the Ni-Ti alloy powder as a raw material and producing the rolled material and forging of the Ni-Ti alloy.

CONSTITUTION: The melt of the Ni-Ti alloy as a shape memory alloy is centrifugally sprayed in an inert gaseous atmosphere and is made into the powder. Since the powder has a spherical shape, the powder has the poor rolling and forging moldability and the density of the rolled and forged articles made thereof is so small that the good rolled material and forging are not obtainable. The spherical powder in such a case is mechanically reground by a grinding mill using Ni or Ti as the material to grind the surface of the powder to the irregular shapes having much ruggedness. The powder is further pickled by immersing the same into an aq. soln. contg. 5% hydrofluoric acid and 20% nitric acid, by which intergranular corrosion is generated in the microcrack parts of the powder and further the powder is pulverized to the powder having the irregular shapes. The rolling and forging characteristics are thus additionally improved.
