To obtain a powdery hair dye composition having excellent hair-dyeing effect and handling property.
A powdery hair dye composition containing a direct dye is compounded with 1-50wt.% of one or more kinds of galactomannan polysaccharide derivatives selected from a hydroxyalkylated guar gum derivative having a 2-4C alkyl group, an extract of locust tree seed, etc. The direct dye is preferably a cationic hair dye and usable in combination with a synthetic direct dye. The amount of the direct dye in the composition is 0.1-25wt.%. The composition is preferably further compounded with 0.1-10wt.% of a hair conditioning polymer, 10-70wt.% of a water-soluble or swellable powder and 5-30wt.% of a surfactant. The composition is preferably used by mixing with water at a ratio of 1:5 to 1:30 before applying to the hair. It can stably be homogenized without causing agglomeration by mixing with water to facilitate the use.
