PURPOSE: To obtain a powdery pharmaceutical preparation, containing a carotenoid extracted from palm oil, excellent in preservation stability without any fear of decomposition of the carotenoid and useful as a colorant for foods and drinks, cosmetics, feeds, etc., an enriching agent and a medicine such as provitamin A.
CONSTITUTION: This powdery pharmaceutical preparation containing a carotenoid extracted from palm oil is obtained by blending an oil-soluble antioxidant so as to provide 0.5-8wt.% amount thereof and (1/1) to (1/10) weight ratio of the water-soluble antioxidant/oil-soluble antioxidant, then carrying out the emulsifying treatment so as to afford 100-500nm average emulsified particle diameter according to a conventional method in adding the oil-soluble antioxidant to the carotenoid extracted from palm oil, dissolving the antioxidant together with an edible oil and fat at 40-170°C (preferably 100-150°C) for about 5-30min and emulsifying the fat and oil with an aqueous phase and powdering the resultant emulsion by spray-drying, etc. The obtained powdery pharmaceutical preparation has 10-200μm average particle diameter thereof and is excellent in preservation stability of the carotenoid.
