PURPOSE: To generate specified snake form by giving a different bending rigidity to part of a cable conductor from the other parts, and twisting this part together with the other parts into a spiral extending in the axial direction of the conductor.
CONSTITUTION: A number of element wires 11 of the same dia. which are situated on the outermore layer of a strand conductor 1 in such a structure as being twisted in multiple layers shall be formed from a highly conductive metal material having a small Young's modulus such as Al (E: 6000kg/cm2), while the other element wires 12 of the strand are made of a highly conductive metal material having a large Young modulus, for ex. Cu (E: 10000kg/cm2). A power cable 3 of this constitution is drawn into a pipeline 4, and current is supplied. The cable 3 drawn into the pipeline 4 in a straight line is fixed at the mouth of the pipeline by stopper 5 to provide checking of the movement in axial direction. When current is supplied to this cable 3, elongation in the axial direction generated in the conductor by Joule's heat is checked by the stopper 5, so that a bending stress is applied to the cable to give it a snake form 3', which allows buckling without unreasonable force.
