To provide a power consumption reducing method capable of reducing a power consumption within a specific period by giving the incentive of power saving cooperation within the specific period to each household, and to provide a power consumption reducing program with which a computer is functioned as a device for realizing the power consumption reducing method.
A server device 30 transmits an electronic mail describing requests for the cooperation of power saving at a date when power saving should be performed and information related to an agent who gives preferential treatment to a person who makes a reservation at that date to terminal equipment 20 of each household where a person who is planning to stay at the power saving date. When receiving information related to the reserver from any terminal equipment 20 for household in response to this, the server device 30 transmits an electronic mail notifying the completion of reservation on determining that it is possible to give the preferential treatment when two or more constituents being the constituents of the household who stay in the specific period are stored in a reservation management table 34 as the persons who have made a reservation in the specific period to any agent.
