To improve charging efficiency in normal charging without restricting an operation of a low voltage load in an electric vehicle during the normal charging.
During charging of a high voltage battery in the vehicle, if the normal charging is determined in a step S1, and if it is determined that the load whose mode is to be switched is not operated in a step S2, a process for entering a power saving mode is implemented. A voltage of the high voltage battery is reduced. An operation mode of a DC/DC converter for supplying the high voltage to a low voltage battery and the low voltage load is set to the power saving mode in which a power consumption is lower than a normal mode. Then, if it is determined that an operation for activating the load whose mode is to be switched is implemented in a step S5, the operation mode of the DC/DC converter is changed to the normal mode. The technology can be employed to the DC/DC converter for the electric vehicle.
