PURPOSE: To provide a hoistway requiring no power cable and saving space by feeding power to a linear motor from conductive materials buried in guide rails via current collectors.
CONSTITUTION: A secondary conductor 15 is installed in the vertical direction in a hoistway, and a primary conductor 14 is provided on a balance weight 7 lifted or lowered along two guide rails 9 arranged in parallel with the secondary conductor 15 in this linear motor type elevator. Power is fed to the primary conductor 14 by an inverter device 13 provided on the balance weight 7, and power is fed to the inverter device 13 from conductive materials 11 buried via insulators in the guide rails 9 via current collectors 12 moved together with the balance weight 7 in contact with the conductive materials 11.
