PURPOSE: To make the insertion of a power plug possible into a triple-pole socket and to reduce the size and weight of the plug by connecting a two-core flat cord to a live blade and to a neutral blade, embedding a grounding prong in the base of the plug, and welding the plug to a cover.
CONSTITUTION: A plug base 3 has a fuse mounting box 11 formed integrally with the center portion thereof, and a live blade 8, a neutral blade 9 and a grounding prong 10 are integrally embedded around the box 11 as the base 3 is molded. The end of the prong 10 is completely embedded in the base 3 to prevent the prong 10 from making contact with live and neutral wires. The blades 8, 9 have respective end blade terminals projected inside the base. The base 3 has a slot portion 12 integrally formed on the peripheral edge thereof into which a cover 4 is fitted, and a bush receiving portion 14 integrally formed to position the bush 13 of a two-core flat cord 2. After the cover 4 is electrically connected to and integrally fitted into the base 3, the portions of contact between the base 3 and the cover 4 are integrated together by ultrasonic welding.
