To provide a power saving method for a wireless LAN with which it is estimated in a terminal station whether or not data addressed to the present terminal station are buffered in a base station, operation for receiving downlink data is temporarily stopped when it is estimated that the data are not buffered, and a band is prevented from being used for an unnecessary radio frame sequence.
When a terminal station receives a beacon management frame Beacon(TIM) from a base station, the terminal station records TIM information indicating whether or not downlink data destined to the present terminal station are buffered ("1" is indicative of "buffered" and "0" is indicative of "not buffered") in a memory. In PS-Poll transmission timing (11-21), the terminal station refers to the memory and when latest two values of TIM are "00", PS-Poll transmission is stopped. In the figure, PS-Poll transmission is stopped in PS-Poll transmission timing 17-20.
