Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide an inexpensive power source unit to which no rush current flow when the power source unit is turned on to make power supply and which has a high input power factor, less number of switching elements, small size, and light weight.
CONSTITUTION: Electric power from an AC power source Vs is supplied to an inductance element by full-wave rectifying the power V by means of a full- wave rectifying circuit DB and intermittently discontinuing the power Vs in the sense of a high frequency by means of a switching element S1 and the energy accumulated in the inductance element is discharged to a capacitor C1 for smoothing through a diode D2. Then the voltage g' the capacitor C1 is supplied to the primary winding of a high-frequency transformer T by intermittently discontinuing the voltage in the sense of a high frequency. Therefore, the duration during which an input current flows from the power source Vs can be prolonged and the input power factor of this power unit can be increased by reducing the distortion of the input current. Because of the diode D2, no rush current flows when the power unit is turned on to make power supply. Therefore, the circuit configuration of this power unit can be simplified and, as a result, the size and weight of the unit can be reduced.
