PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply device and an image forming apparatus for suppressing the performance deterioration of an image formation even when a type of the power supply to be input is changed.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a power supply device of a heater. The power supply device of the present invention includes: a power factor improving circuit which boosts a power supply voltage supplied from a power source for outputting the power supply voltage to a heater side; power supply voltage detection means for detecting the power supply voltage; acquisition means for acquiring a heater power of the heater; frequency determination means for determining a switching frequency applied to the power factor improving circuit by utilizing a detection result of the power supply voltage detection means and the heater power acquired by estimation means; frequency determination means for determining a switching frequency applied to the power factor improving circuit by utilizing the power source voltage detected by the power source voltage detection means and the heater power estimated by the estimation means; and frequency control means for controlling the power factor improving circuit to be operated.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
