Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent a component in electrified state from being exposed by making a cover removable from a housing only when an electric contact is in open state. CONSTITUTION: In a circuit breaker 1 having a tripping means 25 for tripping an operating mechanism 23 is response to an abnormal current to lay electric contacts 27, 31 in open state, an operating handle 41 has a tripping position situated within a slender slot 43 in addition to OFF position and ON position. The width of the slot 43 in the tripping position of the operating handle 41 is narrower than the width of the extended terminal parts 53 of the operating handle 41, so that a cover 9 can not be removed as long as the operating handle 41 is present in the tripping position even if the circuit breaker 1 is tripped to layer the electric contacts 27, 31 in open state. Namely, the cover 9 and be removed only when the electric contacts 27, 31 is opened. Thus, a component in current carrying state is never exposed.
