To provide a power transmitting shaft having excellent durability capable of obtaining the stabilized fitting condition in relation to a spline hole without generating looseness.
An outer peripheral tooth 32 of a spline shaft 29 to be inserted into a groove 15 of a spline hole 14 is divided into a first tooth part 32a and a second tooth part 32b. The first tooth part 32a and the second tooth part 32b are arranged so that phase thereof is displaced in the circumferential direction of the spline shaft 29, and opposite side surfaces of the first tooth part 32a and the second tooth part 32b are made to pressure-contact with both side surfaces of the groove 15 so as to eliminate the generation of looseness at the time of connecting the spline shaft 29. Any one of the first tooth part 32a and the second tooth part 32b is loaded with the rotating torque in response to the rotating direction of the spline shaft 29.
