PURPOSE: To eliminate breaking of paper even in the case of the material to be printed having a small breaking strength by measuring an outer diameter of a new rolled paper without contact during the delivering the travelling paper from a former rolled paper, and adjusting the peripheral speed of the new rolled paper to the travelling speed of the travelling paper, and connecting the tip of the new rolled paper to the travelling paper.

CONSTITUTION: The travelling speed of the travelling paper 5 delivered from a former rolled paper 3 continuously is detected by a travelling speed detecting means, while a distance from the periphery of a new rolled paper 4 to a sensor 20 is measured, the sensor 20 is moved by a power cylinder 21 so that the sensor 20 is positioned at a constant distance from the periphery of the new rolled paper 4, and a movement distance of the sensor 20 is measured by a potentiometer 22. At the time of connection for change from the former rolled paper 3 to the new rolled paper 4, an outer diameter of the new rolled paper 4 is measured on the basis of a measured value of the movement distance of the sensor 20 measured by the potentiometer 22, and a driving motor of the new rolled paper 4 is controlled so that the peripheral speed of the new rolled paper 4 coincides with the travelling speed of the travelling paper 5.
