PURPOSE: To obtain an aq. precious metal prepn. substantially free of org. solvents, more particularly a bright gold prepn. by incorporating a specific precious metal thiolate, an org. binder of a water-soluble polymer, an aq. solvent and a surfactant into the prepn.
CONSTITUTION: The precious metal thiolate in the form of a water-soluble salt having ≥1 salt formable acidic or basic functional group, the org. binder selected from the salt consisting of primary, secondary or ternary amine or N-heterocycle base, (more particularly contg. the water-soluble salt of gold (I) thiolate of formula Au-Q-COOH, where Q is, in some cases, a bivalent org. group having other functional groups) and polyvinyl pyrrolidone homo- or copolymer or the like and the surfactant, such as polyoxyethylene polydimethylsiloxane, are dissolved into an aq. soln. system of ≤2 wt.% in the ratio of the org. solvent at 30 to 80°C. The soln. is applied on the surfaces of precious metals of ≥1 kinds, such as gold, silver, platinum and palladium, and is stoved at 400 to 900°C after evaporating water, by which the soln. is transferred to articles, if needed.
