Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a precursor for carbon fiber excellent in tensile strength by applying a specific modified silicone oil material to acrylonitrile-based spun yarns and then subjecting it to dehydration and densification treatment. SOLUTION: This precursor for carbon fiber is obtained by subjecting a polyacrylonitrile-based raw liquid material to wet-and-dry spinning, rinsing, and drawing in bath, applying to spun yarns a silicone oil material which comprises an epoxy modified or amino modified silicone having a viscosity of >1,000 cSt at 25 deg.C and modification rate of 0.05 to 10 wt.%, an alkylene oxide modified silicone having a viscosity of >1,000 cSt at 25 deg.C and alkylene oxide modification rate of 10 to 80 wt.%, or a modified silicone having a viscosity of <=100 cSt at 25 deg.C, contact angle of <=40 deg. against polyacrylonitrile film, and 0.01 to 10 wt.% modification rate of a condensation reactive group such as an alkoxy group, alkenoxy group and silanol group, and which has an emulsion ratio of >=40% of the nonvolatile component, and then subjecting the silicone-applied yarn to dehydration and densification treatment.
