Abstract:
To provide a precursor for polyacrylonitrile (PAN)-based carbon fibers useful in suppressing proliferation of bacteria or molds even when preserved over a long period after applying water thereto without increasing the scale of preparation equipment when preparing the water to be applied and preventing lowering of strength of carbon fibers and a composite using the carbon fibers.
The precursor for the PAN-based carbon fibers is obtained by applying ≥0.5mass% of the electrolytically oxidized water prepared by using a salt such as an amine salt without containing metal ions, preferably NH4Cl as an electrolyte.
