Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve wetting of surfaces of rigid plastic moldings having a specific amount of sonjugated double bond with blood, by sulfating or sulfonating the surfaces with sulfuric acid to make them hydrophilic without lowering the physical strength.
CONSTITUTION: The surfaces of rigid plastic moldings having 1-20% of conjugated double bond (e.g. polybutadiene grafted with styrene and acrylonitrile, etc.), are sulfated or sulfonated by treating the surfaces preferably with concentrated sulfuric acid or fuming sulfuric aicd, optionally together with chromic anhydride.
