PURPOSE: To obtain the compound containing new material useful for treatment of cancer in fewer steps in high yield by subjecting a specific compound to lithiationing, allowing it to react with aldehydes, reducing it and finally subjecting the resulting compound to hydrolysis - cyclization - dehydration reaction.

CONSTITUTION: The objective compound of formula IX is obtained by lithiationing the compound of formula I (R is 1-3C alkyl) with a diisopropyl metal lithiumamide to form the compound of formula II, allowing it to react with an aldehyde represented by formula ArCHO [Ar is an (substituted) aromatic group or monocyclic or polycyclic hetero aromatic group and compounds of formula III, formula IV, formula V and formula VI are new ones] to form a secondary alcohol, then reducing the alcohol functional group of formula VII with trifluoroacetic acid of triethylsilane to form the compound of formula VIII and at least subjecting the dioxolane functional group of compound VIII to hydrolysis - cyclization - dehydration by a strong acid in a hydric solvent.
