Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain aq. dispersion of fine particles of polyester having improved dispersion stability by dispersing uniformly a polyester copolymer having 0.2W0.8 intrinsic viscosity and a specified compsn. being substantially insoluble in water, in the water contg. no org. solvent.

CONSTITUTION: A copolymerized polyester insoluble substantially in water and having 0.2W0.8 intrinsic viscosity and consisting of an acid component consisting essentially of ≥40mol% terephthalic acid and 0.5W10mol% arom. dicarboxylic acid contg. metallic salt residue of sulfonic acid, and a glycol component consisting essentially of ≥50mol% 1,4-butanediol or EO adduct of bisphenol A, is synthesized. The copolymerized polyester is dispersed uniformly in water contg. no org. solvent to prepare an aq. dispersion of polyester.
